Early Americana Fire Starting
Early Americana practical logic, durable workmanship, and aesthetic appeal are all immediately prominent components upon first site when it comes to this Early Fire Starting Tool… The "Cape Cod Fire Starter"
The "Cape Cod Fire Starter" was developed during the days when wood fires were a necessity. This device of early Americana Yankee ingenuity earned the tag-line "Works First Time – Every Time" soon after its first introduction.
Consisting of a small cast iron or brass pot with handle, lid, and pumice stone on a cast iron or brass stem, the fire starter worked like this… you would simply fill the cast iron pot half way with Lamp Oil and let the pumice stone soak. When lit, it would burn for about ten minutes — plenty of time for the fire to get going without kindling or newspaper.
Works the first time every time, then, as it still does today.
That is why Original Antique Versions, as well as Modern Replica’s are available still today! Great for charcoal cooking, too.
The photo representation here is of the Fire Starter Pot that I have owned for about 20 years now, and is for representation only and is not for sale!
